Temple trip to Columbia River Temple (10-17-17)

Benjamin had the opportunity to go with a bunch of missionaries to the Columbia River Temple this last week.  He loved it.  These pictures were sent to me by one of the wonderful members that helped drive these sweet missionaries so they could go to the Temple. THANK YOU!

Fun Picture from Ward Member

Received this gem one evening.  My favorite surprise texts these days include this guy!

Season 3 Episode 2 (10-23-17)

So here we are another week in and its only colder and wetter ha ha ha. So this week has been good. Training is a whole adventure in itself especially when you had 3 trainers so really have no idea what the crap is going on or how in the world your supposed to actually train people. But I’m doing my best and we’re learning together. News this week is pretty boring. We did have another service project but before you shut your computer off its not as bad as "the couch" in fact it was quite fun. We just went to the library since a ward member works their and their having a crazy cheap book sale but needed help moving like a solid 100 boxes filled with books. So now that there is 10 Missionaries in Eburg we were able to get it done pretty fast. Everyone just started grabbing boxes and I just sat and waited cause I knew that was a bad idea and I proved right since the stairs got super cluttered with every one going up and down so I pulled a Danny and started "the book chain" and after that it got super fun and way faster and a job they told us would take an hour and a half we finished in about 40 min. Then we had muffins and yeah it was a blast.

Other news is it’s been raining and cold. Solidly like 35-40 degrees so it wasn't freezing to snow (thank the heavens prayer works!!!!!!) but still colder than I wanted it to be. Especially since our miles got cut down a whole bunch since president is splitting so many areas. So now we have to walk anytime were in Eburg city. Which to get into our area is about a mile walk so we spend about 3-4 miles a day walking. Which honestly isn't bad it’s helping with my weight issue but sadly when its cold and rainy it is miserable. But oh well I’m sure the lord will make up with it by making sure my wife is a trophy wife ha ha ha ha. Hope all is well where ever you call home.

Season 3 Episode 1 (10-16-17)

YO!!!! so this week while not as intense as last week was still definitely interesting. I had to say goodbye to Elder Kneip and he is now home in Idaho. After that I became temporary companions with Elder Sorenson and we got some good tracting tho. But man Ellensburg is a weird place. Its especially really weird when its like 8 o clock and super dark and like 40 degrees outside and people still answer the door without clothes :/  not so sure I'm looking forward to college anymore hahaha
> But on a side note we met alot of super nice people and got some good work done. Then Wednesday my son/mom was born (super weird mission thingy but if you train you give birth, Your trainer is your father and the first companion after your done training is your mom) (FYI I technically have 3 fathers and gave birth to my mother and because I gave birth to my own mom I’m technically my own gpa. Weird I know but not too many people can make these claims).
> So my son is a stud. And ironically he’s from St. George (those of you that know the area a decent amount he’s north of snow canyon park, those of you who know it better he’s in between veyo and snow canyon park, and those of you who know it pretty well he’s from Diamond Valley). So super weird.  Apparently, he went to Tuachan his
> freshman year and then home schooled himself sophomore and junior year and then senior year he went to Dixie High. His dad is a seminary teacher at Dixie which gives him a bit of an unfair advantage over me haha. haha jk I spent a lot of time getting pretty well versed so I can keep up with him, but he’s pretty smart.  Anyways so he came and I was incharge of getting the first ward sisters under their feet and then we moved apartments (new apartment has heaters and is like 2x's the size!!!!!!!!) and a bunch of other things since my whole district got changed so yeah its been a pretty stressful week but super super fun!!! I really shouldn't complain. We started doing Insantiy and P90x this week for morning work outs which is super funny and idk what else to talk about. We did have a super super awesome lesson with Nicole and Devan Bartlett. After the lesson, we ran into Devan at church (well no she was with us as a recent convert) and she was telling us that after we left they both just looked at each other and were like "dang!!" and then they watched the video we showed them (Testimony of the Book Of Mormon by Elder Holland) and they were just crying apparently. So that went super well. It was just a non lesson lesson that I felt like they needed to hear. Technically it would be under lesson 4 (commandments) since it was the Importance of scriptures and church and prayer. That was probably the highlight of my week. and yeah I’ll send some pics in a different email.

Episode 2, Week 6 (10-9-17)

**WARNING- READ AT YOUR OWN RISK**(per Benjamin's mom)

Well here goes nothing. I have some interesting stories this week.
So first things first, SERVICE on Tuesday was the worst thing ever!
There was a lady who isn't able to take care of her self. And is like 80. She also can't walk. She refuses to leave her home tho so she isn't able to get the care she needs. SHE LIVES on a COUCH. And by that I mean LIVES, like eats, sleeps, everything and more than you can imagine. We went to get rid of it and got her a new couch brought in.  When we were getting it out she moved off the couch and it was hard core indented. (ps her house smells worse than most outhouses, it was GROSS like we had to step out every now and then it was so bad and thick) so we are moving the couch and when I get close to pick it up, I see that its covered in flies and maggots and other horrors. Then we had to tilt it so that it could get thru the door and the cushions fell off. IDK what all I saw but I saw a couch soaked in Urine and Blood along with other nightmares. I don't think I have ever smelt anything so bad nor have I ever seen anything so disturbing nor have I experienced anything along those lines. I could easily write about the other horrors on the side like how this super super old lady's shirt didn't have sides and it left nothing up to the imagination, but I won't & also I wont' go into detail anymore either but man that was horrible.
Other Highlights of the week is that Transfers are happening this week and on Saturday I got a call that said I am now training (right after I got trained for your missionaries that understand this means I’m giving birth to my mom) and I will be instead of covering 1st  and 3rd wards I’ll be only in 3rd  which is really sad, but its where all the work is and where I’d rather be anyways. But I will super super miss alot of people in 1st ward. There are so many amazing members there from the Kirklands to Don to The Walkers.  I won't forget that area anytime soon.
Other than that I don't have too much info. I got a haircut yesterday and look like a stud and am freezing my nuts off since its 32 degrees already and might just hit 0 come Halloween.
Hope everything is well and I love hearing from my fans!!!
Love,
Your Fav Elder,

Elder Holt

Season 2 Episode 5

So this week was INTENSE and will probably hold at least one of my good mission stories when I'm home. Again, I don't really remember the order of things except my first one since it happened on last P-day.

1. On P-day we went to the nice part of Yakima to a members home that has a HUGE home. And I went to the bathroom and it had a heated seat and I was like DANGGGGG this, this is Heaven. so then I was looking around and found a remote and was like "hey what's this do?" And the same time I hit the button I realized that I was using a Bidet ( that's probably not how you say it but the toilet from france that washes you up so you don't have to use toilet paper) and man! thats an experience i won't soon forget that's for sure! Also a word of advice. Don't sit too far back or the heater will burn ya ahhahaha

2. This week we got fed 10 meals. and 2 of those were doubles (like we got fed 2 different lunches kinda thing)

3. Saturday before Priesthood we had dinner with some of my favorite members that feed us pretty awesome. and they fed us Fried Oyster Sandwiches which were SOOOOO good!!!!  My comp opted out for the turkey... His loss haha

4. We got a New investigator and same day we put her on date for Oct. 28th. Shes Devan's (our recent convert's) Daughter so that was way exciting

5. We had our interviews with president which was super needed to help boost my life. Something about even just being around President Lewis makes me happy so that was good!

6. We were trying to go to one of our dinner appointments in an apartment complex and we went up a floor to high. (there was a no soliciting sign outside the apartment) and then we turned around and went back to the right floor. as soon as we opened the door to the floor this dude was coming out and yelled at us to leave. we tried to explain the situation and how we weren't "soliciting" just going to our dinner appointment but he said "you just came from upstairs, you're not allowed to solicit so i suggest you get the %$#^ Outta here or imma call the ^&*% Cops. (this is not one of my finest moments but this guy really ticked me off with the amount of disrespect he showed us. So i said "Go ahead Call the cops. I'd love to talk to em, Here you can use my phone (and i hand our phone out to him)" then Elder Kneip told me to let it go and walk out so we walked outside and the guy was like "call whoever you wanted to go meet with and have them get you, I'll wait. And so we did and his neighbor came and got us. It was pretty funny looking back. haha yeah so that was the highlights of my week.

Love Y'all so much!! Hope you know I wouldn't be who I am without all you amazing fans ;)

Haha Love,
Elder Holt

Season 2 Episode 4 (9-25-17)

So i don't really remember the order that these events happened this week but the highlights of my week were 1 while doing some work at CWU I ran into an old friend from highschool thats attending and we talked for like 15 min. but since the white bible says your not supposed to meet up with friends or family I like mini paniced and I think it was the most awkward thing that she had probably experienced at school so far hahaha. but anyways so part of my panic about beaking the rules i kinda ended the convo early and we left and I feel super bad about it cause I didn't mention anything about all the YSA activites and that Jazz thats going on and she'd have a blast at. But Ohwell maybe ill run into her again

Next crazy thing is one of the bishops i work with owns a company called wesco and they had their company party this week and half of the employees are straight mexican. so they had a fiesta and they served carne asada (which was normal and good but we came late due to schedule conflict so it was gone) and Carnitas which was good but kinda weird cause they cooked the whole freaking pig and then shoved it in the cooler so while i was digging around i luckily had bro. spencer come save me as he saw i was piling pig stomach on my plate along with the normal meet. and it was super weird cause as i was digging thru i found the snout hahahaha. anyways i did try the stomach since alot of people really liked it. And ill try anything once. And it tasted fine but the texture made me gag pretty bad so i didn't get seconds on that one haha.

And last was my B-day everyones emails and letters and packages made it a super awesome day! so thank you to everyone who helped. It wasn't too special since we still had to work but we went out for lunch and then had some fun times through out the day. Honestly i was super glad to just be out working hard! Best way i think i could spend my bday! even if i had 3 doors slammed on me hahaha

Love,
Elder Holt

P.s. thank you again everyone for making my bday so awesome!
